Blind

” There are none so blind as those who will not see. ” KJV Holy Bible

The above quote refers to the spiritual aspect of human behavior but the principle it represents can be applied to all areas of human behavior including the interior space of one’s residence.

Over the years in this profession there have been many situations in which clients have absolutely insisted upon ignoring physical evidence while maintaining their point of view.

There can be many underlying causes for this situation.

One is that it results from the ingrained beliefs one is exposed to and learned during growing up years and from one’s education. This position is where they are and they are right and nothing is going to change them.

A second one comes from the social economic position, especially among the upper levels, which often is the only one they know and as they are at the top they are always right and there is nothing that can move them from that position regardless of evidence presented.

The third one comes from positions of control and authority. They are in control and what they decide to choose is done without question. This situation is especially prevalent in the military, business executives, some religions, and in some families.

In addition to being a personal flaw, when it comes to the interior space of one’s residence, their insistence upon maintaining their position means that they almost totally miss out on the beauty and other desirable as aspect of their home environment which sometimes cost them more and presents more problems.

We are all human beings with both our flays and our good and desirable and admirable traits.

It is also true that what we experience in our lives is much determined by the choices we make.

When it comes to the interior design of the spaces in which we choose to live, sometimes it is wise to take a good look and to find if there is something that we don’t see.

Food for thought.
