The beginning of the summer season was celebrated yesterday.
In general, major changes are not made to the designs of our interior living environments for celebrating the four seasons.
There are, however, changes available to make the summer more delightful.
After very closed indoor air quality during the winter it can be deliciously refreshing, when possible, to open exterior doors and windows to the outside weather for fresh air and gentle breezes.
This one change makes the overall summer season most welcome and enjoyable.
Again, where possible, reorienting activities to the outdoors on porches, decks, patios, terraces, in yards, et cetera can be a renewing activity for experiencing summer.
Inside, culling some parts of the interior design furnishings can help inside spaces feel more open and free.
For some situations window treatments are reduced and upholstered furniture is slipcovered in lighter colors with whites and light blues being especially effective for a change of flavor.
The promuigation of summer flowers, whether indoors or outside, heightens the sight and smell senses of the season.
For some, summer showers, and even thunder storms, sunshine, and long daylight hours are enhancing and joyous.
Enjoy your summer.
Food for thought.
